The beauty of Kashmiri flora has always mesmerized locals and visitors alike. And it is this beauty which our master artisans of walnut wood have put into this magnifient piece of art to adorn your home in a splendid manner. The craft of walnut wood is primitive, handed over from generations to generations. This piece of beauty displays tulips, clovers and many more, and thus the name - Poshdaar (Of flowers). The process of creating this masterpiece undergoes several steps before this beauty of a wall plate is created. Large planks of walnut wood are first cut into desired sizes, the entire step known as "Laekker Chirrun". These are then left to dry till the wood only retains 12% of its moisture. Once dried, the wood is passed on to a carpenter who shapes it to a frame, which then moves to the hero of our story, the Naqash , who breathes a new life into this bland piece of wood and engraves it with all his skill and precision. Finally, the piece is polished to give it a wonderful finesse. This particular piece displays an undercut carving of Kashmiri flora, meaning that the detailed engraving comes several inches away from the base of the wall hanging. This entire procedure takes an effort of almost 6 months on part of the artisan as he creates puts all his skills and experience into this brilliant piece of art.
